The Weary War segment of AC Valhalla is rich with interactions and activities that extend beyond fighting and killing. One of these includes a segment in which Eivor must bribe a character with the Bishop’s 650 silvers in a bid to stop the oncoming war.
Of course, it becomes important to know exactly what the consequences of Eivor’s decision will be, and therefore, the best way to approach this particular task.
Here’s everything you need to know about this arc in the game to make an informed decision.

Why you need to give Silver
After the cutscene in which Eivor interacts with the Bishop, you will receive 650 silver that is basically like a bribe and must be given to one of the characters in the game. The purpose of this silver, depending on whom you choose to give it to, is to either flame the war or hedge for peace, depending on what you want. Or so one is led to believe. In the next cutscene, you will interact with four options for the silver bribe.
Whom can you give silver to
Here’s each option along with the consequences of giving them the silver.
Ynyr Ap Cadfarch, the Advisor
Ynyr promises Eivor that he will speak to the King in the interest of peace. However, considering everything that happens in the cathedral thanks to Ivarr, his promise is absolutely empty. The worst aspect of bribing Ynyr is that you will never even be able to recover the silver from him after the cathedral confrontation. Between Eivor bribing him and the war breaking out, the silver is already gone in this scenario.
The Queen: Lady Angharad
The Queen of the Britons promises to speak to her husband and wishes to barter the silver for a hopeful conversation with her husband. While she does not abscond with the silver, she does give you a Briton Cloak Brooch as a consolation gift for a bribe that didn’t pay off. You can sell the brooch for a low-value of 38 silvers and recover some of your wealth.
Rhodri’s Brother: Gwriad
While Gwriad also promises peace for the silvers, it doesn’t matter because he’s going to die by Ivarr’s hand in the cathedral confrontation anyway. The only benefit of giving the silver to Gwraid is that you can recover it from his dead body after he’s dead.
Ivarr
Ivarr is ridiculously trigger happy and doesn’t even pretend to want peace. He outright claims that he’s waiting for the killing to begin so giving him the silver will only push for more war. If Eivor chooses to give him the silver, it will be unrecoverable.
Who to give silver to?
Unfortunately, no matter whom you decide to bribe with the Bishop’s silver, war is inevitable in terms of the plot. So, unlike in the case of Witcher 3, deciding whom to give the silver actually does not change the trajectory of the game. However, depending on whom you choose to give the silver, you will be able to recover all, some, or none of it.
So really, it all comes down to how you prefer your returns. In the case of the queen, you will get a collectible item if you’re into that.
In the case of Gwriad, you have a full return guarantee which is a good way to go since the bribe is useless anyway.
Giving the silver to anyone else is just a waste because war is inevitable thanks to the cathedral confrontation.
Alternatively, you can just lie to the Bishop
Another more sensible approach you can take is lying to the Bishop. Don’t give the silver to anyone and when the time comes for the interaction between Eivor and Bishop, just lie about it. It’s not like the Bishop can find out what actually happened. This way, you get to pocket the silver for yourself and avoid looting Gwriad’s dead body.
