5G is going to be the buzz word in 2019 along with the foldable design form factor.

While Samsung is likely ready to unveil its 5G Galaxy S10 X foldable phone on February 20 in the Galaxy Unpacked event alongside the Galaxy S10 series, Huawei also confirmed it will challenge the South Korean manufacturer with its own 5G-powered foldable smartphone at MWC 2019, kicking off on February 25 in Barcelona, Spain.

Huawei CEO Richard Yu, speaking on the occasion of launching Belong 5000 chipset in Beijing, revealed that a 5G Huawei foldable phone will make its debut at MWC 2019. Not only that, he says the company will be the world’s first to get you 5G in a foldable phone. See the full video here of the presentation here.

This isn’t the first time we are hearing about the 5G-enabled Huawei foldable phone btw, as we already had a hint that the device is in the works and is set for 2019 release.

There is some uncertainty regarding the release date of the Huawei 5G foldable phone since as of now the device has not veered off the rumor territory. Still, we do know that it will be at the MWC later this month.

It is not clear if the handset will make it to the market right after its show off at MWC 2019 or whether it will take the Chinese company months to deliver a consumer-ready device. We hope the doubts will clear off soon as we will get to see the device in action at MWC 2019. Stay tuned!
