Find the third pig in Solarpunk on the large island south of your starting island, once your Airship is upgraded enough to reach that outer landmass.
In Solarpunk, the third pig is on the large island directly south of your starting island, reachable once your Airship is upgraded enough to cross to that outer southern island.
If you’ve already grabbed the first two pigs and you’re hunting the third, the search ends to the south. The first two sit on the islands off to the northwest and northeast, but pig number three lives well away from them on the big landmass below spawn. The catch is that you can’t just sail there on day one — you need your Airship upgraded far enough to reach that part of the map first.
The third pig is on the southern island

Head to the large island directly south of your starting island and that’s where the third pig roams. This island is separate from where you found the other two — the northwest and northeast islands are pigs #1 and #2, so there’s no point re-sweeping those for a third one.
The pig won’t be standing on a single fixed marker, either. Pigs wander the island rather than parking themselves at one spot, so treat this as a whole-island search instead of a precise coordinate. Sweep the landmass end to end and you’ll turn it up.
Sweep the entire southern island rather than chasing one exact spot — the pig roams, so circle the whole landmass instead of camping a single coordinate.
Getting your Airship across to the pig island
Reaching that southern island is purely an Airship problem. Until your travel range stretches out to the outer southern island, the pig is out of reach, so progressing the Airship is the real gate here — not finding some hidden path.
Sources disagree on the exact upgrade tier. Some accounts say the pig islands open up with Airship Upgrade 2 (the same step that brings Sunflowers and Pigs onto new islands), while others say the third pig only becomes reachable once the Airship hits level 3. The safe play is to try after Upgrade 2, and if the southern island still isn’t in range, keep upgrading toward a level-3 Airship and check again. Don’t lock yourself to one hard requirement — push the upgrades until the island appears in your travel circle.
Capturing the pig and building its pen
| Item / unlock | What it needs |
|---|---|
| Basic Animals Pack | Level 5 Research Table, Wheat x5 |
| Feeding Trough | Wood x10, Stick x5, Iron x5 |
| Water Trough | Wood x10, Stone x10, Iron x5 |
| Feed Bag | Wheat x2 |
Finding the pig is only half of it — a pig isn’t instant loot you scoop up. To keep and farm one, you need the capture gear in place and a spot for it back home. The sequence is straightforward: set up an Animal Receiving Station at your base first, then once you’re on the island, use an Animal Transportation device on the pig. Interacting with it that way sends the pig back to the receiving station at your base.
Before any of that pays off, you also need the research and farm pieces that let you house, feed and water it. The Basic Animals Pack is the unlock that lets you keep pigs at all, and the troughs and feed keep it alive once it’s home. Here’s what each piece costs.
Get the Basic Animals Pack researched and your troughs built ahead of the trip, and the pig settles in as a working part of your farm the moment it arrives — feed it, water it, and it earns its keep.
Why pigs and Truffles are worth the trip

The payoff for all this is Truffles — pigs are the route to them, and Truffles feed your later progression. You’ll want roughly 10 Truffles to buy the fourth Airship upgrade from the tradebot, so the third pig isn’t just a collectible, it’s a step toward extending your reach even further.
While you’re working these southern islands, keep an eye out for what you’ll be hunting next: Cobalt, Carrots and Sunflowers all come up right after pigs, so note where they are as you sweep.
