What to know
- iOS 27 doesn’t let you remove AI features from the iPhone.
- Apple Intelligence, combined with the OS, can easily take up anywhere from 16GB to 37GB. Combined with System Data, this goes well above 70GB.
It appears that there is no kill switch for Apple Intelligence on iOS 27. Even on iOS 26, Apple Intelligence was notoriously hard to disable. But at least certain features could be disabled that allowed users to take back control and some precious free space.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t appear to be the case with AI on iOS 27. The worst of it is that the AI footprint has also increased with the current OS iteration.

Depending on your iPhone, the OS could take anywhere from 16GB to 37GB, with the upper limit being more common.

Combine that with System Data, and you could be looking at 70-80GB worth of space you’re never getting back.

And all this when the new Siri is yet to arrive. Only time will tell how much more bloated the iPhone experience will get, especially when there is no way to remove these AI flamboyances.
This is just another example of big tech shoving AI down people’s throats. We really hope Apple bucks the trend and gives users the option to disable certain AI features (especially those that hog storage) when the final public release is available.
