What to know

  • The Battery Terminal blueprint is found inside the Old Habitat north of the Life Pod.
  • You must scan two separate fragments to unlock the blueprint fully.
  • Both fragments are located inside the same ruined structure.
  • The Battery Terminal lets you recharge batteries directly inside your base.

If you are constantly running out of power tools in Subnautica 2, the Battery Terminal is one of the earliest quality-of-life upgrades you should unlock. It allows you to recharge depleted batteries safely inside your habitat instead of crafting new ones repeatedly. The blueprint is fairly easy to obtain once you know where to look, but the ruined habitat can be confusing on a first visit.

Where to find the Battery Terminal blueprint

The Battery Terminal blueprint is located inside the Old Habitat wreck directly north of your starting Life Pod. The structure is partially damaged and flooded, but both fragments are inside the same building, making this one of the easier blueprints to unlock early in the game. You only need basic exploration equipment and enough oxygen to move through the corridors comfortably.

How to get the Battery Terminal blueprint in Subnautica 2

Travel north from the Life Pod

Start from your Life Pod and swim directly north. After a short distance, you will notice the remains of an old underwater habitat structure resting on the seabed. The building is visibly damaged and partially open.

This is the location containing both Battery Terminal fragments.

Enter through the floor breach

Instead of searching for a normal doorway, move toward the lower-right side of the habitat and look underneath the structure. You will find a large breach in the floor that acts as the main entry point.

Why the Battery Terminal is important early game

The Battery Terminal becomes extremely valuable once you begin using tools regularly. Items like the Scanner, Repair Tool, Flashlight, and Seaglide can drain power quickly during exploration. Instead of throwing away empty batteries or crafting replacements repeatedly, you can simply recharge them inside your base.

This saves both resources and inventory space over time.

The terminal is especially useful if you already have a stable power source such as Solar Panels, a Bioreactor, or another early-game energy setup. Pairing rechargeable batteries with renewable base power creates a much smoother gameplay loop during long exploration sessions.

Best placement tips for the Battery Terminal

Although the Battery Terminal can fit almost anywhere indoors, placing it near your fabricator or storage lockers usually works best. This keeps all your crafting and resource management systems together in one convenient section of the base.

You may also want to install multiple terminals later in the game once you start carrying several spare batteries for advanced equipment and vehicles.

Battery Terminal rewards and benefits

Early Game ValueCheap and easy to unlock

The Battery Terminal is one of the simplest but most practical upgrades available in early Subnautica 2 progression. Since both fragments are located inside the same Old Habitat, unlocking the blueprint takes only a few minutes once you know the route. After construction, you will spend far less time worrying about depleted batteries and more time exploring deeper regions of the ocean.
