What to know
- Heat Tolerance Adaptation is required for surviving hot biomes and progressing toward the Tadpole submarine.
- You must unlock the Habitat, Processor, and Sonic Resonator blueprints first.
- The final upgrade is obtained by clearing infected bloom cankers near the Angel Comb chamber.
- Most required resources and blueprints are located north of the Life Pod.
The Heat Tolerance Adaptation is one of the most important progression upgrades currently available in Subnautica 2 Early Access. It allows you to safely enter thermal regions that would otherwise rapidly damage your character, and it is also tied to deeper exploration and advanced crafting progression.
Heat Tolerance Adaptation in Subnautica 2
| Requirement | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Habitat Blueprint | Build a functional base |
| Processor Blueprint | Craft ingots |
| Sonic Resonator Blueprint | Destroy bloom cankers |
| Silver & Lead | Craft electronics |
| Wanderer Blackbox Cave | Final adaptation location |
Where to get the Heat Tolerance Adaptation
The full progression route mostly takes place north of the starting Life Pod. The Habitat blueprint can be found in the orange trench area near spawn, while the Processor and Sonic Resonator blueprints are located near the abandoned habitat around 320 meters north.

Silver ore can be found inside nearby caves, and the final Heat Tolerance upgrade is earned inside the infected cave system connected to the Wanderer blackbox signal.
How to get Heat Tolerance Adaptation in Subnautica 2
Step 1
Leave the Life Pod and head toward the orange trench biome nearby. Scan the Habitat blueprint fragments and collect the Alien Food Adaptation while exploring the area.

Step 2
Travel approximately 320 meters north to the abandoned habitat structure. Enter through the lower hatch and scan the Processor blueprint inside the room immediately on the right.

Step 3
Remain in the same area and search nearby wreckage and technology fragments to unlock the Sonic Resonator blueprint.

Step 4
Gather the required crafting resources including titanium, copper, quartz, acidic pouches, silver, and lead. Silver is commonly found inside the cave systems near the old habitat.

Step 5
Build a small habitat in a safe location and place solar panels on top to provide power. Install the necessary fabrication equipment inside.

Step 6
Use the Processor to create ingots, then craft the Sonic Resonator using the ingots, battery, wiring kit, and lead.

Step 7
Travel to the Wanderer blackbox signal and enter the infected cave system filled with tendrils and bloom cankers.

Step 8
Equip the Sonic Resonator and destroy the bloom cankers attached to the large tendrils to clear the infection blocking the path forward.

Step 9
Follow the tendrils deeper into the cave until you reach the chamber containing the Angel Comb organism.

Step 10
Destroy the remaining bloom cankers located north of the chamber and return to clear the last infected growths in the main area.

Step 11
Interact with the Angel Comb after the infection is fully cleared to obtain the Heat Tolerance Adaptation.

Rewards from completing the upgrade
| Reward | Benefit |
|---|---|
| Heat Tolerance Adaptation | Resistance to high-temperature zones |
| Thermal Area Access | Explore volcanic regions safely |
| Tadpole Submarine Progression | Unlock advanced crafting progression |
| Easier Deep Exploration | Reduced environmental damage |
Why the Heat Tolerance Adaptation matters later
This upgrade is more than a simple survivability buff. Several advanced crafting materials and biome entrances sit inside dangerous thermal regions that are nearly impossible to explore safely without it. Once equipped, you can spend far longer exploring volcanic trenches, geothermal caves, and deeper infected sectors without constantly retreating.

It also acts as a progression gate toward the Tadpole submarine, one of the most important mobility upgrades currently available in Subnautica 2 Early Access.
The Heat Tolerance Adaptation opens access to some of the game’s most important exploration zones and progression routes. Once unlocked, you can safely travel through hotter biomes, gather advanced materials more efficiently, and continue working toward vehicle upgrades like the Tadpole submarine.
