What to know

  • Jiuyuan is the only clear S tier unit at launch, combining strong damage, utility, and easy team building value.
  • Nanally, Daffodill, Baicang, Haniel, Adler, Sakiri, and Chiz are standout supports that can anchor early accounts.
  • Mint and Edgar are weak picks that are not worth early investment outside of personal preference.
  • Many characters sit in a healthy A tier, so you can still play favorites while keeping a strong roster if you avoid the obvious traps.

After substantial playtime and reflection on earlier impressions, this launch tier list focuses on practical performance, ease of use, and long-term value of Neverness to Everness. It aims to show which characters comfortably carry your account, which ones need careful support to shine, and which are better skipped at the start.

Baicang Top of A High ceiling DPS Can out damage Nanally if mastered, difficult to play optimally.
Esper Zero (MC) A Reaction driver Fast Esper cycle reactions make this unit a core team member.
Adler A Shielder and support Easy shields, some damage, and reaction element support.

Sakiri High performing Mobbing and buffs Great for mobbing and strong support, a very good early hit.
Hotori Bottom of A Synergy carry Strong if you build a whole team around her, not plug and play.
Hathor High A Stylish hybrid Cool and usable with unique furniture perk, but clunky and not S tier damage.

Fadia Strong sustain Healer and tank support Can make teams nearly invincible with enough investment, no damage.

Aurelia Tentative B New, little tested Cute, free on day three, real strength still unknown.
Mint Bad Low impact DPS Loved aesthetically but bad in performance terms.

S tier and top carry options you should know

Jiuyuan is the only S tier character, sitting at the bottom of S but offering impressive damage, helpful utility, and very simple team building.

She is easy to use, straightforward to build around, and generally a strong all rounder, which gives her excellent value for both early and long term play.

Nanally is the flagship limited main DPS and is a really solid main DPS who can carry accounts through version 1.0. She is extremely easy to play, very strong, and recommended if you want an easier time progressing through launch content.

Lacrimosa, a standard S rank, is shaping up far stronger than expected and likely to overshadow Daffodill once more testing is done. For now, Lacrimosa is a hypothetical S tier pick rather than a firmly locked placement.

A tier cores most teams will lean on

A tier is presented as a healthy, crowded band of characters that are strong and flexible, and you can comfortably build around many of them at launch. These are not bad consolation prizes, instead they form the backbone of most early rosters.

Esper Zero, the main character, sits in A tier, with the female version being slightly better.

The main value here is how quickly this unit can drive Esper cycle reactions, which makes the main character a natural core member of many teams rather than a pure damage carry.

Adler is also A tier, largely because he is simple: he provides shields on cooldown, some damage, and an incantation element for reactions. He is an obvious early companion for your main character, making him a plug and play defensive and reaction piece.

Haniel is rated A tier after changes that turned this unit into a strong, fast supporting buffer. Haniel jumps in, applies buffs, and then rotates out so your main DPS can maximize boosted field time, making this support a high value pick in buff centric teams.

Sakiri was initially underrated but is now a really solid character, good for mobbing and providing buffs. Sakiri is among the characters you should be happy to pull early, which implies this unit sits comfortably among the stronger options.

Difficult but rewarding damage dealers

Daffodill previously lived in S tier but has been moved to the top of A tier after power was shifted rather than purely nerfed.

Daffodill is still really great and absolutely capable of carrying content, but now relies heavily on Baicang and a properly built team to reach full potential.

Baicang is an excellent damage dealer who can out damage Nanally in the right hands. The catch is that Baicang is not easy to play or push to the limit, which is why this character is placed at the top of A tier rather than S despite very high potential.

Hotori is placed at the bottom of A, but this character is not easy to drop into random teams. If you build a full composition around Hotori, she can feel really solid, but she demands that level of commitment.

Chiz, the free S rank you receive via City Tycoon, fits the high power, high effort archetype as well. You gradually earn five copies of Chiz and five copies of her weapon as you level the city, which may take weeks, and she is a good main damage dealer who is quite hard to use optimally and benefits from practice.

Defensive and utility anchors

Fadia is a very strong sustain option. With enough constellations and copies, Fadia can bring so much healing and sustain that endgame teams can feel almost invincible, though this unit contributes essentially no damage.

Hathor has a cool design and for a unique benefit: owning Hathor unlocks furniture that passively generates equipment for your account. Performance wise, Hathor sits in high A tier, usable and solid, but skills can knock enemies away and feel clunky, and the damage does not reach the level expected of S tier units.

Skia is placed in B tier and even a possible C. Skia has mid range numbers, and the main niche is providing a Lana element, which is not especially strong.

Aurelia is slotted into B tier largely because this character is new and not yet well understood. The main concrete detail at launch is that everyone gets a free copy on day three of logging in, making it easy to test Aurelia without spending resources.

Low tier characters you should avoid early

The tier list makes it very clear that a few characters are simply weak from a meta perspective and should not be early investment priorities. Playing them for fun is fine, but they are poor uses of precious day one resources.

Mint is not good. But it can still be built as a personal challenge or for enjoyment, but she is clearly not recommended for efficient progression.

Edgar is also bad, especially as a healer. Edgar provides some healing, but this unit is weak and is expected to be outclassed quickly by almost any future support.

How to build a balanced launch team

Step 1: Lock in a reliable main DPS

Choose a primary carry such as Jiuyuan or Nanallyas the centerpiece of your first team. Jiuyuan offers S tier reliability with good damage and utility, while Nanally as the unit can carry accounts through version 1.0 and make progression much easier.

Step 2: Add a reaction driver

Include Esper Zero to quickly trigger Esper cycle reactions and amplify your main DPS. The main character is rated A tier specifically because of how fast and consistently this unit can drive these reactions.

Step 3: Slot in shielding and buff supports

Fill remaining slots with supports like Adler and Haniel to keep your team alive and damage boosted. Adler provides easy shields, some damage, and an incantation element, while Haniel jumps in to apply strong buffs before swapping out.

Step 4: Bring sustain for tough content

For harder stages or late game modes, consider Fadia if you have invested into this character. Fadia is capable of pushing team survivability to the point of near invincibility, though there is no personal damage contribution.

Step 5: Keep weak units as side projects

Avoid using your earliest high value materials on Mint and Edgar, since both are as poor performers. With so many strong A and S picks, these units are best treated as side projects once your main teams are secure.

How to prioritize long term investments

Step 1: Focus on simple, high impact characters

Spend your most valuable early resources on straightforward powerhouses like Jiuyuan, Nanally, Esper Zero, Adler, Haniel, and Sakiri. These characters offer strong returns without requiring complex mechanics or perfectly tailored compositions.

Step 2: Then invest in demanding but strong picks

After your core is stable, move into high ceiling projects such as Baicang, Daffodill, Hotori, Chiz, or heavily built Fadia. Each of these can be amazing but either demands mechanical skill, team specific setups, or multiple duplicates to truly shine.

Step 3: Treat style picks as luxury builds

Characters like Mint, Hathor, and Skia are better seen as passion picks rather than efficiency plays. Mint and Skia are weak or mid range, while Hathor is more about aesthetics and the gear generating furniture than about warping the meta.

This launch day tier list shows a roster where many characters are genuinely usable, with a dense A tier and just a few obvious duds. By centering strong, easy units first and saving the weak or demanding ones for later, you can build a flexible account that clears content smoothly while still leaving room to experiment with personal favorites.
