What to know
- The auto-hide taskbar feature can be quite slow in hiding or showing the taskbar. But that can be sped up.
- Go to the Settings app > System > About > Advanced system settings > ‘Performance’ Settings > Custom > uncheck Fade or slide menus into view.
- You can also reach that the System Properties window using the RUN command sysdm.cpl.
If you auto-hide the taskbar on Windows 11, chances are that you find the slide effect with which the taskbar is hidden and revealed too slow. Fortunately, there’s something you can do to speed it up. Here’s how you can speed up the taskbar autohide feature on Windows.
How to change Windows 11 Taskbar autohide speed
Step 1: Open the Settings app.
Step 2: Select System on the left, and About on the right (all the way down).
Step 3a: In the ‘Device specification’ section, click on the Advanced system settings related link.
Step 3b: Alternatively, you can also use the RUN command sysdm.cpl.
Step 4: In the ‘Advanced’ tab, click on Settings in the ‘Performance’ section.
Step 5: Select Custom.
Step 6: Uncheck Fade or slide menus into view.
Step 7: Click Apply, then OK.
This will make the taskbar auto-hide function snappier so you don’t have to wait for the taskbar to hide or come into view to execute tasks.
