Google has rolled out an important update to its Android app by introducing a dedicated Notifications tab, making it easier for you to stay on top of important updates. The new feature appears in the bottom navigation bar, with existing options like Home, Search, and Saved.
When you open the Notifications tab, you’ll find a clean, organized feed of updates categorized under “Today” and “Earlier” sections. The tab displays various types of notifications, including weather updates, sports scores, flight information, news alerts, and the word of the day.
As per 9To5Google, the new feature gives you more control over your notifications. Each alert comes with a three-dot menu that lets you delete the notification, adjust your preferences, or send feedback to Google. When you tap on a specific notification, it takes you directly to the relevant search results for more detailed information.
This update aligns the Android app with its iOS counterpart, which has had this feature for some time. The rollout is happening gradually, with the feature currently visible to users running Google app version 15.44 and above.
The Notifications tab lists missed alerts, including those cleared from the system notification drawer. This feature allows users to retrieve notifications even after they’ve been dismissed.
The Notifications tab is one of several recent updates to the Google app on Android, along with the integration of Gemini AI features and the option to share search results as links.
