What to know

  • OnePlus has started rolling out the stable OxygenOS 15 update based on Android 15 to OnePlus 12 devices globally, one week ahead of schedule.
  • The update is being released in batches across North America, Europe, India, and global markets, with all users expected to receive it by the end of this week.
  • While the update brings numerous new features and improvements, AI-related features are currently missing and will be gradually integrated through updates by the end of November.

OnePlus has surprised its users by releasing the stable Android 15-based OxygenOS 15 update for the OnePlus 12 ahead of schedule. This makes the OnePlus 12 one of the first non-Pixel devices to receive the stable Android 15 update globally.

As 9To5Google reports, the system has received a significant overhaul with a new graphics engine that ensures smoother animations and rendering, even under heavy load. You’ll notice improved system-wide swipe consistency that extends to third-party apps, providing a more uniform scrolling experience across all applications.

The Home screen now sports a fresh look with redesigned icons and new themes. OnePlus has also introduced new wallpapers to complement the updated visual aesthetic. The Quick Settings panel has been separated from the notification drawer, allowing you to access notifications with a top-left swipe and Quick Settings with a top-right swipe.

Multitasking gets a boost with new floating window gestures. You can now swipe down on notification banners to open floating windows, which you can enlarge, close, or hide as needed. The Split View feature has been enhanced with resizable windows – simply drag the divider or tap to expand the display area.

OnePlus has also implemented new battery management features, including a “Charging limit” option that stops charging at 80% to preserve battery health. The system now includes improved security features like the Theft Detection Lock and Remote Lock to protect your device.

A notable addition is the “Share with iPhone” feature, which simplifies file sharing between your OnePlus device and iPhones. You can now easily share documents, images, and videos across platforms.

The update is rolling out in phases across different regions, so if you haven’t received it yet, you should get it within the next few days. OnePlus plans to extend the Android 15 update to more devices in its lineup, including the OnePlus 12R, OnePlus Open, and OnePlus Pad 2 in the coming weeks.
