The Google Pixel 4 isn’t expected until October 2019, but stories about the device have already been doing rounds on the web for some time now.
We’ve heard rumors that the Pixel 4 is codenamed Coral and the Pixel 4 XL is codenamed Flame and that the two will come with better dual SIM support. Today, we have the first CAD renders of the device that give us a look at “early prototyping schematics” thanks to a collaboration between OnLeaks and Pricebaba.
From the renders, we see a Google Pixel 4 smartphone with a square camera module in the top left corner of the back. You’ve probably seen something similar in the many iPhone 11 rumors doing rounds. Apparently, the module will house two or three camera lenses, which is something many Pixel fans have been waiting for.
In fact, many will welcome the idea of having three camera lenses on the back at the expense of the huge camera bump and ugly camera module.
As expected from a 2019 flagship smartphone, there’s curved glass just about everywhere. The top front-firing speaker (housed by a notch?) and USB-C port at the bottom keep their place, but this time it seems we get a bottom-firing speaker, or perhaps two.
The power and volume buttons also keep their familiar positions, but this time the fingerprint scanner is no more. With everyone hiding it under the display screen, why not Google?
Once again, we have months between now and the expected Google Pixel 4 launch. Given that these renders are based off early prototyping schematics, we might as well be looking at something that got ditched a while ago.
