Yarnaby is a Greymoor NPC who’s central to the Twisted Bud/Infestation Operation sequence. Below you’ll get precise map context, a compact table of what you need, and a clear, numbered route to reach Yarnaby and finish the related quest with minimal backtracking.
Yarnaby's location in Silksong
Yarnaby appears on the upper-west side of Greymoor — roughly the rafters/upper rooms you can reach after entering Greymoor from the Bellhart direction. Players commonly find Yarnaby in a bellhome/upper-rafter house that you access by climbing left/up through Greymoor’s top tier.

Quick guide to finding Yarnaby
Before we jump to the detailed step-by-step guide below, here's a quick reference for those who needed this only.
| Quest / Trigger | When you meet Yarnaby | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| First arrival in Greymoor | Optional encounter (can knock on bellhome in upper-west side) | Yarnaby is present early but won’t progress unless certain conditions are met. |
| Rite of Rebirth (Twisted Bud obtained) | Yarnaby acknowledges the Bud and explains extraction | This is the first major dialogue where Yarnaby ties into the Infestation Operation. |
| Infestation Operation (starts with Yarnaby) | After showing the Twisted Bud | Yarnaby becomes the quest-giver, instructing you to fetch Steel Spines. |
| Sinner’s Road trip for Steel Spines | Mid-quest check | You’ll leave Yarnaby temporarily to buy/loot the Steel Spines, then return. |
| Infestation Operation completion | Final Yarnaby encounter | Yarnaby uses the Extricator, extracts the Bud, and rewards you with the Witch Crest. |
| Late-game checks (post-extraction) | Optional return visits | Yarnaby’s dialogue changes depending on whether you’ve completed extraction; no further quest steps. |
Step-by-step guide: How to find and get to Yarnaby from Bellhart
Step 1
From the Bellhart entry into Greymoor, move right into the main Greymoor area. Keep heading upward when possible to reach the region’s upper tier.

Step 2
Use lifts, platforms, or the nearest shortcut shafts to climb to the top level of Greymoor (the rafters/upper rooms). If you’ve unlocked small vertical shortcuts, use them — Greymoor’s vertical layout funnels you toward the upper-west passages.

Step 3
Look for a bell-shaped home / large bell structure on the left/upper side of the section; this is the bellhome many players report Yarnaby uses as a hiding spot. Approach and interact with the door (knock/open).

Step 4
Talk to Yarnaby. If you’re carrying the Twisted Bud (or have completed the Rite of Rebirth earlier), Yarnaby will offer/advance the Infestation Operation questline and explain the Steel Spines requirement. If Yarnaby’s dialogue isn’t available, double-check map progress (you may need to trigger Rite of Rebirth first).

Step 5
If Yarnaby asks you to fetch Steel Spines, open your map/memory of Sinner’s Road (the merchants Crull & Benjin are located there) and prepare Rosaries. Return to Yarnaby after acquiring the Steel Spines to proceed with extraction.
