What “the cure” actually is
In Green Hell’s story, Jake is searching for a cure for his wife Mia’s cancer, which leads him back into the Amazon jungle on an expedition funded by Omolu Corporation. Omolu had previously used a rare green fungus from the jungle to create a miracle cancer drug that cured Mia, but that same fungus is later revealed to be the source of a deadly virus spreading through the region.
“The cure” in gameplay terms is a special item called The Cure that you craft in the lab section of the story. It represents the final antidote to this virus and is what allows Jake to break out of his hallucinatory loop and reach the true ending.
How to make the cure
To craft the cure and unlock the good ending, follow these steps in story mode:
Step 1: Reach the lab area
Progress through the story until you gain access to the Omolu lab, usually after dealing with the cartel and the anaconda camp. Inside, you’ll find the sample analyzer machine, which is needed to create the cure.

Step 2: Infected blood sample
To obtain the infected blood sample, open the fridge in front of the Sample Analyzer to collect it, then place the sample into the analyzer machine.

Step 3: Capture a living poison dart frog
In the jungle, find a poison dart frog (small, brightly colored frog, often near water or damp areas). Use your hands or a net to catch it alive; a dead frog won’t work for the cure.

Step 4: Use the sample analyzer
Open your inventory, select the living poison dart frog, and place it into the sample analyzer at the lab. The machine will process it and create The Cure item.

Step 5: Keep the cure safe
Once made, The Cure appears in your inventory as a unique item. Do not lose or drop it; you’ll need it later to progress toward the ending.

What happens after using the cure
Once you have The Cure and use it in the vision:
- Jake wakes up in the real world, fully lucid and no longer trapped in hallucinations.
- The game gives you the option to escape to the airstrip, which leads to the good ending where Jake leaves the jungle with the truth about Mia and the virus.
- If you never make or use the cure, Jake remains stuck in a loop of madness, endlessly searching for Mia in his mind.
