The fight with Yi Dao takes place in the ruins of your village near Blissful Retreat, in the Qinghe region. The nearest teleportation point is Source of Still Shore.

To start the fight, interact with the sword stuck in the ground near a burned building by a tree. The exact location is given above.

Yi Dao mechanics

Yi Dao’s attacks have a strong mix of parryable and unblockable moves. Specifically:

  • Parry his red attacks to trigger counterattacks that deal good Qi damage.
  • The most dangerous move is the Triple Illusion Strike, which cannot be parried, tracks your movement, and requires precise dodging.
  • Use the Celestial Seize mystic art to cancel his powerful 3-hit sweeping slash and disarm him briefly. Note the 40-second cooldown on Celestial Seize and avoid close combat during it.
  • When Yi Dao’s sword glows gold, he will unleash a flurry of attacks that cannot be blocked but can be dodged.
  • Focus on waiting for openings like when Yi Dao is knocked down to attack directly.

How to beat Yi Dao

Step 1

Interact with the sword near the burning building in Blissful Retreat.

Step 2

Enter the Dreamscape and engage the mysterious senior swordsman until the duel scene where you get knocked down.

Step 3

Continue following the senior swordsman deeper into the dream, jumping across platforms.

Step 4

When you're left alone, climb up, and navigate across fields.

Step 5

Talk to the NPC Uncle Zhou to update the quest marker.

Step 6

Engage the final duel with Yi Dao at Moonveil Mountain.

Step 7

When you defeat Yi Dao, he will simply return you the wine and walk away.

After the fight, continue with the Dream in Flames quest to gain the rewards.
