A Google search result may have given away the release date of the upcoming Sony Xperia ion. An XDA member, while searching for “xperia ion” on Google, came across an ad which mentioned that the Xperia ion is “Coming Exclusively to AT&T in June”. The exact date isn’t mentioned, but it at least gives a time frame during which the phone may get launched.
AT&T is yet to officially mention any release date information, so this might have given away something AT&T was not yet ready to reveal. The Xperia ion is supposed to come with a dual-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon CPU and a 12 megapixel camera as the main features, with other specs including 1 GB of RAM, a 4.55-inch HD screen, 16 GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot, and a 1900 mAh battery. And of course, 4G LTE support on the AT&T network. It’s expected to be released with Android 2.3 out of the box, with an Android 4.0 update coming later on.
So, the moral of the story is that if you really want to know something, Google probably has the answer, as the interested XDA member found out. Here’s hoping AT&T isn’t too angry about all this.
