Xiaomi launched its flagship product, the Mi6, in April in two colors – Blue and Silver. While the former has gone on sale in various markets, the latter is yet to be made available. Notably, Xiaomi did announce earlier that it has no plans to sell the Silver Mi 6. However, that changes now.

The Chinese company, today, has announced that owing to popular demand it has decided to release limited number of Xiaomi Mi6 Mercury Silver Edition. And as the cherry on the icing, this device will be layered with the latest MIUI 9 ROM, the company announced today at an event in Beijing where it also released Xiaomi Mi 5X, MIUI 9 and other products.

Given the fact that Xiaomi had earlier hesitated to commercially release Xiaomi Mi6 Mercury Silver Edition due to the low production yield (only 1-2%), it is logical for the company to set a very high price tag to this special edition Mi6 device.

The Mi6 Mercury Silver Edition (6GB+128GB) will set you back by 3,999 Yuan (about RM2,540). This is 1,000 Yuan (about RM635) more than the Mi6 Ceramic edition (6GB+128GB).

Owing to the tough manufacturing process of Silver Mi6, Xiaomi as of now plans to release only 100 units. The device will go on sale on Xiaomi’s Chinese website on August 3rd.

However, it is highly possible that this Xiaomi Mi6 Mercury Silver Edition will only be available in China, although the company has not made any comment in this regard. Users purchasing this special and limited edition of Mi 6 will receive a letter from a Xiaomi engineer as well as an F-code. This will give priority for the user to purchase any new Xiaomi product for the next three years.
