Xiaomi has started to roll out the Android 8.0 Oreo beta update for the Xiaomi Mi 6. This is for the global variant of the device and the build number is MIUI 9 version 8.1.11. You will need to be on a previous MIUI 9 beta ROM(7.12.14) to receive the Oreo beta as an OTA download.
The company is also looking for new beta testers for the Oreo ROM, so if you’re interested you can sign up over here. The beta update includes some new features as well as improvements and bug fixes. Firstly, the notifications have been improved when using the phone in landscape mode. There’s a new sound recording option for the Screen Recorder.

The Contacts app has been improved with quick dial feature. MI apps have received a slight makeover with a new homepage and some visual effects. Apart from these changes, the update also includes a bunch of bug fixes.
A bug, with the weather information not shown properly in the status bar when in landscape mode, has been fixed. Mobile data label not showing properly in the Restrict data settings has been fixed. And finally, a bug that displayed a black screen when unlocking the phone, has also been taken care of.
