Xiaomi, off late, has risen to be the hot favorite of those looking for a rocking device with high-end spechseet in an affordable price range. How does the company manage to deliver such premium products at such competitive price, is altogether another matter of debate. But it does know the pulse of the consumers well when it comes to pricing and specsheet. However, it fails miserably in case of updating devices. Therefore, it will comes as a pleasant surprise for Xiaomi Mi 5 users to know that the company has started rolling out the Nougat update for the device with MIUI 8.2 in China.

The update bumps up the Android Marshmallow OS onboard the Mi 5 to Android 7.0 Nougat and tags along all the Nougat goodies. It is based on the Xiaomi’s latest MIUI 8.2 ROM, stable build of which was rolled out last month to select devices which included Mi Max, Mi Max Prime, Mi 4i, Mi 4, Mi 3, Mi Note, Redmi 1S, and the Redmi Note 4G.

The MIUI 8.2 update comes along with bug fixes, performance improvements and new additional features which includes inclusion of Home screen settings option in the Settings menu, antivirus scan feature and more.

Xiaomi Mi 5 is an upper mid-rang device launched last year in February. It sports 5.15 Full HD display and is powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 1.3GHz. The phone packs in 3GB of RAM and 32GB of ROM. Power comes courtesy a 3000mAh non removable battery. On the imaging front, there’s a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 4-megapixel selfie snapper.
