A new leak coming in straight from China claims that Xiaomi could announce a new handset next month, i.e., in July.
The leaker claims that the device will not be a Redmi series phone but will be a Mi phone. He also says that “you certainly cannot guess” the model of the phone which hints that the company could launch an entirely new phone in the Mi series altogether.
Now, this certainly seems plausible since a new Xiaomi handset codenamed “riva” has appeared on Geekbench earlier today. According to the specs seen on the Geekbench listing, the device could be an entry-level handset.

Speaking of which, the device was spotted with 3GB of RAM and what could probably be the Snapdragon 427, Snapdragon 425, or Snapdragon 415 chipset.
Also, the Xiaomi riva could ship with Android 7.1.2 Nougat on-board. That’s pretty much everything we know about the device currently. However, we should get to see more details in the near future before the smartphone goes official.
