Earlier today, a leaked Redmi Note 5 Pro firmware appeared online with MIUI version 9.5.4 and with it came the update to Android 8.1 Oreo for the one-month-old handset. Apparently, this was just an early look at what was ahead because the Xiaomi has just announced its official roadmap for MIUI 9.5.
Just like MIUI 8, it appears that a significant number of Xiaomi phones, including some from 2013, will be upgraded to the incoming MIUI 9.5 ROM. While the leaked MIUI 9.5.4 firmware does confirm that this version will be based on Android 8.1, this will only be true for devices that are eligible for Oreo.
