What to know

  • Mushrooms are a Nature resource exclusively used for upgrading your Scrappy companion to Level 5, the maximum tier that unlocks the Master Hoarder passive ability for material generation.
  • The Blue Gate map contains unreliable mushroom spawns, making it unsuitable for dedicated farming despite being a primary quest location.
  • Dam Battlegrounds and Spaceport offer guaranteed and high-probability spawn locations with dedicated farming routes that yield 12 mushrooms in under an hour.
  • The Lush Blooms event significantly increases Nature resource spawn rates across all maps, making it the most efficient time to collect mushrooms through wicker baskets

Mushrooms are one of the most sought-after yet elusive resources in Arc Raiders. While they spawn across multiple maps, their inconsistent availability and specific habitat requirements create a distinct farming challenge. The Blue Gate plays a supplementary role in mushroom acquisition rather than a primary one. Nevertheless, it's still a map that you cannot overlook.

Why you need Mushrooms in Arc Raiders

Mushrooms is a key ingredient in upgrading Scrappy to its final tier. This is the main reason why all Raiders look for mushrooms. While it can also be consumed for a small amount of health, upgrading Scrappy is the primary motive. Here's a quick Scrappy upgrade reference:

Level Tier Name Requirements Primary Farming Map
1 Fledgling None (Starting Level) N/A
2 Forager 1× Dog Collar Dam Battlegrounds, Blue Gate, Buried City
3 Scavenger 3× Lemons, 3× Apricots Spaceport, Blue Gate (Olive Grove)
4 Treasure Hunter 6× Prickly Pears, 6× Olives, 1× Cat Bed Dam Battlegrounds, Blue Gate, Buried City
5 Master Hoarder 12× Mushrooms, 12× Apricots, 3× Very Comfortable Pillows Dam Battlegrounds (Mushrooms), Spaceport (Mushrooms), Blue Gate (Apricots)

Scrappy generates passive income during raids by collecting basic crafting materials like metal parts, fabric, seeds, and chemicals. The maximum upgrade to Level 5 (Master Hoarder) requires 12 mushrooms alongside 12 apricots and 3 very comfortable pillows.

Best mushroom farming locations

Dam Battlegrounds

Dam Battlegrounds dominates mushroom farming with approximately 30 documented spawn points across interconnected zones. The Hydroponic Dome Complex serves as the primary target, featuring multiple rectangular pools where mushrooms grow along water edges, frequently appearing alongside Great Mullein plants. Outside the main building, two significant tree spawn locations exist on the southern and western sides, with fallen logs providing reliable secondary harvests.

The Blue Pipe Room represents another high-probability dam location, yielding 1-3 mushrooms per run when looted from fresh instances. Arrive within the first 25 minutes of raid spawn to ensure fresh instances remain unclaimed.

The Wreckage area, located southwest of Testing Annex near a massive destroyed robot, offers mushrooms scattered across fallen logs and branches, providing a third farming corridor for raiders.

Spaceport

Spaceport provides the most convenient guaranteed spawn: a single tree near Little Hangar yields 3 mushrooms that count as 4 in your inventory, a quirk of the game's item system.

This location transforms into the optimal choice for players seeking guaranteed returns with minimal time investment, though it requires extraction to The Trench area safely.

Blue Gate (unpredictable spawns)

Blue Gate mushroom spawns exist but operate on fundamentally unpredictable mechanics. Mushrooms can spawn here, but their locations are less predictable and reliable with no well-documented go-to spots. Experienced raiders recommend treating Blue Gate mushrooms as opportunistic finds while farming the area for other objectives like puzzle completion or quest progression, rather than dedicating runs specifically to mushroom collection.

Leveraging the Lush Blooms event

The Lush Blooms map modifier fundamentally changes mushroom availability by increasing Nature resource spawn frequencies across all maps simultaneously.

During active Lush Blooms events, mushrooms spawn in wicker baskets distributed throughout raid locations, providing multi-item yields in single container interactions. This event window represents the optimal farming period, potentially yielding 6 mushrooms from a single tree that typically produces 3-4.

How to efficiently extract mushrooms

Step 1

Before entering the raid, select a loadout with minimal weight. If you own mushrooms in your safe pocket already, leave your backpack empty—harvested mushrooms will automatically transfer to safe storage.

Step 2

Navigate directly to your target mushroom spawn location. Dam Battlegrounds should guide you immediately to the Hydroponic Dome Complex if spawning on the western side of the map.

Step 3

Collect all visible mushrooms by interacting with trees, pipes, and ground vegetation. In the Hydroponic Dome, check both interior water pool edges and exterior fallen logs systematically.

Step 4

After completing mushroom collection, decide whether to continue farming secondary locations or extract immediately. If you've reached your mushroom quota for the upgrade level (12 total), extraction is recommended to secure your haul.

Step 5

Move toward the nearest extraction point. On Dam Battlegrounds, multiple extraction zones exist—prioritize those closest to your current location to minimize travel distance and ARC engagement.

Step 6

Confirm your extraction at the designated zone. Your safe pocket inventory will persist through extraction and transfer to your hideout inventory automatically.

Blue Gate's role in mushroom farming context

The Blue Gate represents the final progression map, unlocked after 18 completed raids on earlier maps. While it houses valuable loot zones including the Reinforced Reception and Ancient Fort puzzle areas, mushroom farming there contradicts efficient progression strategies. The map's mountainous terrain provides minimal concealment, ARCs patrol choke points consistently, and other raiders frequently contest the same loot zones.

However, Blue Gate serves critical complementary roles: it supplies apricots through the Olive Grove POI—also required for Level 5 Scrappy upgrades—and generates olives needed for Level 4 progression. Combining Blue Gate raids with mushroom farming on dedicated maps creates synergistic efficiency: spend primary raid time on Dam Battlegrounds for mushrooms, reserve Blue Gate runs for apricot and olive collection, and extract during Lush Blooms events to maximize nature resources simultaneously.
