What to know

  • Snowparting Blade is a horizontal sword from the Well of Heaven sect, focused on parries, dashes, and multi‑hit thrusts.
  • Phalanxbane Blade is a heavy, phalanx‑breaking sword from Raging Tides, acting as a DPS tank with shields and AoE spins.
  • Both weapons are currently only playable in the practice arena (via a specific build), not yet obtainable in the main game.
  • They are part of the upcoming Hexi region content and will be fully released in a future patch, likely after the Chinese server version.

The Hexi region in Where Winds Meet introduces two new swords: the Snowparting Blade for parry-heavy combos and the Phalanxbane Blade for tanky AoE damage. While not yet in the main game, Update 1.2 lets you test them in the Practice Arena and get a head start on their playstyle.

Snowparting Blade

A fast, parry-focused sword rewarding timing and counters. Its slide attack closes gaps with brief invincibility, and its special thrust leaves wide-range slashes, adding multi-hit damage and debuffs on bosses. Perfect for a bursty, counter-heavy playstyle.

Phalanxbane Blade

A heavy sword for tanky AoE damage. Its charge + spin ability grants a shield and deals high damage, while its special summons allies to boost both blades’ attacks. Ideal for survivable, bursty DPS with strong AoE.

How to try them right now (Update 1.2)

As of Update 1.2, you can’t yet obtain these blades permanently in the main campaign, but you can test them in the practice arena using a hidden build.

Step 1: Unlock the Practice Arena

First, complete the latest story mission that unlocks the “Gambit Beneath the Shimmer” questline. Then, open the Trials menu, select the Kaifeng trial section, and choose the Jianghu Legacy: Gambit Beneath the Shimmer boss.

Step 2: Enter the Practice Arena

Click the Practice Arena option in the bottom right, then select Switch Combination to test out your new set.

Step 3: Test the playstyle

Focus on parrying enemy attacks to trigger a stagger effect. Use your charge ability followed by an AoE attack with shield. Activate your special ability to empower attacks and summon extra allies for added damage. Practice combos in the arena to get a feel for this tanky, parry-focused build before its full release.

Build playstyle

  • Role: Hybrid tank / AoE DPS that can survive heavy hits while dealing strong burst and sustained damage.
  • Core mechanic: Parry with Snowparting Blade, then punish with fast thrusts and multi‑hit slashes.
  • Tank tools: Phalanxbane Blade’s shield and “Legion Summoner” soldiers help absorb damage and control crowds.
  • Best for: Players who like a defensive, counter‑heavy style with strong AoE for groups and bosses.

Getting a head start on the new blades

The new blades are currently a preview, letting you test a tanky, parry-focused playstyle in the practice arena. While you can’t equip them in the main world yet, experimenting now helps you master combos and AoE strategies so you’ll be ready when the new update releases and these blades become fully playable.
