Chapter 2 of Where Winds Meet, titled Universal Furnace, brings you into the complex political and martial world of Kaifeng. One of the pivotal quests here is Gathering of Heroes, which requires a combination of stealth, combat, and investigation skills to advance.

The quest triggers after you speak with Big Zhao near the Temporal Pavilion in Velvet Shade. It progresses at the Revelry Hall in Velvet Shade and concludes in the Entertainment District of Kaifeng.

Walkthrough

Step 1

After talking to Big Zhao, sneak onto the boat quietly to reach the Revelry Hall.

Step 2

Follow Big Zhao and change into the provided clothes to blend in with Velvet Shade disciples.

Step 3

Enter Revelry Hall and, when questioned about Zhao’s covered face, choose the second dialogue option to pass. Stay close to Big Zhao and avoid suspicious NPCs to remain undetected.

Step 4

Once on the third floor, go around and enter the Ember of East's Chamber.

Step 5

After the cutscene, you’ll need to fend off three waves of enemies targeting the Gold-Making Vessel. Protect it successfully to move forward in the quest.

Step 6

During the cutscene, the Prefect will force you to take a Soulbreaker Pill. You may choose to verbally refuse or fight against taking the pill, the game forces your character to consume the Soulbreaker Pill regardless.

Step 7

Check on Big Zhao by eavesdropping on his conversation with the Prefect of Kaifeng.

Step 8

Speak with Big Zhao, then head to the third floor to search for the clue—a Broken Mask.

Step 9

After being denied an audience with the Ember of East, go to the Entertainment District, where Master Pu will examine the mask and direct you to the ferryman, wrapping up the quest.

Tips

• Use stealth moves and stay close to Big Zhao to avoid alerting guards and NPCs during infiltration segments.
• When defending the Gold-Making Vessel, use guard and dodge frequently rather than just attacking to conserve health and manage crowd control better.
