Dyeing hair in Where Winds Meet is a cosmetic customization that requires specific items called hair dyes. These dyes come in two main types: normal inkshade dyes and more expensive premium bleach dyes that allow for light colors like white, silver, and pastel tones.

Since the default hair color for all characters at creation is black and cannot be changed right away, acquiring dyes is essential for any hair color modification.

How to get Hair Dyes

Hair dyes can be obtained through the in-game cosmetics store, gacha system rewards, or by in-game activities and PvE fights.

Free normal hair dyes are easier to acquire, either via gameplay or gifted occasionally. Premium bleach dyes are more challenging; they require collecting special tokens from the gacha system and are quite costly. Expect to spend significant resources or money for the premium bleach dyes that unlock vibrant hair colors.

How to apply hair dyes

  • Open the Appearance menu.
  • Navigate to the Workshop tab. Select the "Dye" option.
  • Choose the hairstyle eligible for dyeing (some starter hairstyles cannot be dyed).
  • Pick the dye color you want to apply. You can select from Basic Dye and Advanced Dye. Within them, you can further customize your dyes or choose from basic colors.
  • The game allows customization layers including base color, gradient, and highlights, which can be combined for a unique look, though they require the same dye items.
  • Confirm the dye application.

Starter hairstyles you claim early on cannot be dyed; they serve as free cosmetic options but with limited customization. Purchased or unlocked hairstyles through events, exploration, and boss challenges are usually eligible for dyeing. The normal dyes cover natural and dark colors, while bleach dyes enable brighter, pastel, or white shades.
