Here is how you can complete Bodhi Sea in Where Winds Meet:

Step 1: Follow the drumming sound

As you begin the Bodhi Sea exploration, hear the sound of drumming and make your way to the Bodhi Sea area. Defeat enemies like Maddened Celestial Tigers on your way.

Step 2: Pass through the marshland

On your way following the drumming, you will have to pass through a marsh area in which you health may deplete.

Step 3: Reach and strike the drum

As you find land again, you will come across more enemies surround the drum. Clear them all and then strike the drum.

Step 4: Zen Master Miaoshan

Striking the drum summons a memory between Zen Master Miaoshan and a Man in the Tower.

Step 5: Reach the Bodhi Sea boundary stone

Following the drumming sound, you will find Zhang Yinmang beating the drums under a shed, exchange dialogue and unlock the Bodhi Sea waypoint.

Step 6: Find and strike the second drum

Keep on following the drumming sound, and defeat all enemies you come across near the drum. Strike the drum.

Step 7: Commoner's wish

The second drum strikes trigger a dialogue memory between 3 commoners talking about surrendering to save their child.

Step 8: Third drum strike and Youth's questions

Follow the drum sound and reach for the third drum. Defeat all surrounding enemies. This triggers a cutscene about a child asking questions about the father.

Step 9: Ask Zhang Yinmang to stop

Reach back to Zhang Yinmang to ask him to stop playing the drums for the sake of the fallen. But as you are about to reach, you are teleported to a different realm and hear from the Man in the Tower.

Step 10: Inspect the illusion

Enter Ye Wanshan's illusion and inspect the cries, promises and the stories of the victims and the fallen guardians.

Step 11: Fight and defeat Ye Wanshan boss

Complete the quest by defeating Ye Wanshan's boss.

Step 12: Finish the quest

Pick up the green relic he left to unlock Bodhi Sea in Qinghe.

Ye Wanshan boss fight tips

• Make sure your defenses are sufficiently upgraded before the fight — this boss can hit hard, especially in Phase 2.
• Use mobility skills (dash, sidestep) rather than always standing in front of him; his mounted charges cover a lot of ground.
• When using bow/ranged, keep track of your ammo or cooldowns so you don’t run out of safe options while he’s charging.
• Practice the timing of parries/deflects in Phase 1 — the smoother your parries, the easier the transition to Phase 2 becomes.
• Stay calm in Phase 2 — the yellow attacks are intimidating, but dodging and keeping your distance makes them much less dangerous.
