Step 1
Start by heading to the quest location – the southern area of Moonveil Mountain in Qinghe.

You’ll find a group of distressed men kneeling on the ground; approach them to trigger the investigation.

Step 3
Use Wind Sense around the scene until footprints appear, then follow the tracks down the cliff toward the water.

Step 4
Swim across to the crates on the opposite shore and listen to the conversation between two people in the boats.

Step 5
After the dialogue finishes, make your way to Riverside Station. You will encounter enemies, be prepared.

Step 6
Outside a prison cell you’ll meet the Humble Monk. Speak to him to progress the encounter, then talk to Tang Xinci afterward.

Step 7
Begin by asking the Monk to explain his version of events more clearly. When you are given dialogue choices, pick the ones that doubt his explanation or ask him to clarify details. This pushes him to expose gaps in his story.

Step 8
When he claims he acted out of righteousness, respond by gently questioning whether his actions truly helped anyone.

Step 9
At the end, select the calm but decisive response that sums up the truth of the situation. The correct option will always be the one that confidently explains why his story doesn’t hold together.

Step 10
This ends the exchange and lets you move forward to speak with Tang Xinci.

Step 11
You will find Chu the Twelfth standing with He Wanchun near the rope bridge south of Heaven’s Pier. Once you speak to them, Chu challenges your reasoning and questions your involvement in the investigation.

Step 12
Begin by responding calmly and showing that you want to understand the truth rather than accuse anyone blindly.

Step 13
Whenever he speaks in absolutes, select lines that ask him to justify or prove what he claims. This forces him to explain rather than intimidate.

Step 14
Once you give the decisive closing statement, Chu the Twelfth admits his mistakes or drops his argumentative stance.

Step 15
Return to Tang Xinci’s boat and read the letter she leaves behind.

Step 18
Speak to Tang Xinci and trigger rhetoric duel, defeat her to complete the quest.

Step 19
Tang Xinci tests whether your reasoning is stable. Stick to one approach, either rational, moral, or factual.

Step 20
Pick responses that highlight flaws or inconsistencies in what she just said. She tries to provoke sympathy or guilt. Do not take those bait options.
