Developed by Hypixel Studios, Hytale is a sandbox game that gives you immense creative control over your worlds, from model creation to animation and other advanced tools. Released on 13th January, 2026, it is currently the hottest game in town - and rightly so.

But you won't find Hytale on Steam or other gaming platforms. Hytale is currently only available to download from the game's official website - Hytale.com/download.

The game has gone through a rollercoaster ride over the years. The game's development began in 2015, with support from Riot Games. But when Riot Games purchased the studio in 2020, the development stalled. It was only very lately that Hytale was re-acquired from Riot Games.

Since re-acquisition, developers have wasted no more time. With a quick launch on January 13th, 2026, the game is out in Early Access to gather feedback and polish its core systems.

Because the game development hasn't been smooth, developers have also chosen not to launch it on Steam and "avoid negative reviews because of the state of the game." Developers have also mentioned that Steam doesn't support some of the game's modding feature.

But in any case, Hytale has garnered enough support to keep the game alive and well and on track. For now, and what appears to be the foreseeable future, it'll be available from only its own website - Hytale.com.
