Where the Soul Returns is an emotional Encounter quest in Where Winds Meet that explores themes of loyalty, family legacy, and brotherhood.

In this quest, you help two brothers uncover a painful family truth, support a grieving farmer, and ensure a proper farewell for the dead.

The journey takes you across Encliring Lake, Harvestfall Village, and Crimson Cliff in Qinghe, combining investigation, exploration, and heartfelt storytelling.

Travel to the far northwest of Encircling Lake around You hour. As soon as you enter the nearby area, the quest is triggered automatically.

Walkthrough

Here is how you can complete Where the Soul Returns encounter quest in Where Winds Meet:

Step 1: Talk to the Farmer

Travel north of Encirling Lake to find the distressed farmer. Talk to him to trigger the start of quest.

Step 2: Find the Brotherhood Contract

Travel to Northern Vow Ruins at the You hour and find Lie Bujin and Lie Bumie, brothers, and interact with them.

After the conversation is over, you receive the Brotherhood Contract.

Step 3: Give the contract to the farmer

When asked to show, give the contract to the farmer.

Step 4: Find out about the location of the brothers

Travel to Harvestfall Village and find Lie Brothers. You need to ask 4 people about their whereabouts: the Village Woman, the Farmer, the Villager, and the Village Chief.

Step 5: Find Lie Brothers

Travel to Northern Vow Ruins again and find the Lie Bujin here. He is on the first floor of the ruins' building. Talk to him to investigate more about the family lore.

Step 6: Meet the Farmer

You and Lie Bujin teleport to the Farmer near the Encircling Lake to ask him how he knows about his family's legacy.

Step 7: Talk to Lie Bujin

Learn from Lie Bujin about his Uncle Cui and his master cut.

After the conversation, you receive the Cui Xiaojin's secret letter.

Step 8: Lift the coffin with Bujin

When you offer to lift the coffin with Bujin, it triggers a cutscene. You and Bujin are now at the burial ground.

Step 9: Return to the Farmer

Return and check up on the Farmer at the Encircling Lake. After a short conversation, he drops dead.

Read the letter to his wife from the desk.

Step 10: Arrange flowers and wood for the Farmer

After his demise, find 3 Farewell flowers and arrange the woods for his proper see off. You will find them near Twinbeast Ridge.

Step 11: Cremate the Farmer

Return to Farmer's body and put wood and flowers together. Cremate his body.

Upon cremation, you get Farmer's ashes.

Step 12: Find Farmer's Wife

Look for Farmer's Wife, Cai Zhu, and return the ashes to her. She will be at Crimson Cliff with their daughter Yingying.

Step 13: Give Farmer's Ashes

Give Farmer's Ashes to his wife and tell her about his demise.

Step 14: Talk to Yingying and complete the quest

Complete the quest by finishing the conversation with Yingying.
