What to know
- Infection Resistance slows or temporarily halts Blue Mist spread
- Resistance mainly comes from consumables, not permanent stats
- Infection nodes must be cleared to truly stop corruption
- Base upkeep and power stability heavily affect infection behavior
In StarRupture, Infection Resistance is a defensive mechanic that reduces how quickly alien infection and the Blue Mist overtake your base, structures, and nearby terrain. It does not function as a permanent character stat. Instead, resistance is applied temporarily through consumables and supported indirectly through smart base management.
When resistance is low or absent, infection spreads rapidly, disabling machines, corrupting blocks, and eventually threatening your base core. Resistance slows this process, giving you time to react, repair, and remove infection sources before they spiral out of control.
Infection Res Plasm recipe in StarRupture
The primary way to actively increase Infection Resistance is through Infection Resistance Plasm aka Infection Res Plasm, a crafted consumable designed specifically for high-infection scenarios.
How Infection Res Plasm works
- Grants a temporary boost to infection resistance
- Slows Blue Mist spread around you and your base
- Ideal during repairs, exploration, or infection cleanup
- Effect duration depends on crafting tier and ingredients
How to unlock Infection Res Plasm recipe
You need to submit some items at the Recipe Station to unlock the Infection Res Plasm recipe:
- Glowcaps x40
- Prism Herbs x25
- Data points x100
How to craft Infection Res Plasm

Uses of Infection Res Plasm
Slowing Blue Mist spread during base repairs
When infection reaches your base core or nearby structures, systems can fail rapidly. Using Infection Res Plasm slows the spread long enough for you to:
- Locate infection cysts
- Remove infected blocks
- Restore power and stability

Safe access to heavily infected areas
Certain zones are already saturated with Blue Mist. Infection Res Plasm allows you to enter these areas without immediate escalation, making it possible to:
- Retrieve resources
- Repair exposed machines
- Scout terrain safely
Emergency containment during sudden outbreaks
If infection appears unexpectedly—often after power failure or structural damage—using Infection Res Plasm immediately prevents instant loss of control. This gives you time to:
- Identify infection nodes
- Clear cysts methodically
- Prevent base-wide contamination
Supporting infection node removal
Although the plasm does not destroy infection nodes, it creates a safer environment while you eliminate them. This is especially useful when multiple cysts are present near each other.
What Infection Resistance cannot do
- It does not permanently immunize your base
- It does not replace node removal
- It does not scale infinitely
Think of resistance as a delay mechanic, not a cure.
How base management improves infection resistance indirectly
While base upgrades do not directly increase Infection Resistance as a stat, good base practices significantly reduce infection pressure.
Power stability matters
Infected areas worsen faster when power systems fail. Keeping generators, wiring, and storage stable reduces how aggressively infection spreads.
Structural hygiene
- Remove infected blocks instead of ignoring them
- Avoid building in heavily contaminated zones without preparation
- Keep clear sightlines so infection is visible early
