Vivo Y53 launches in Philippines, priced PHP 6,990

Vivo’s new offering in the budget smartphone section, Vivo Y53, has now been launched in Philippines after making its debut last month in Malaysia. The mid-range Vivo phone can be yours at a cost of PHP 6,990.

Successor to Vivo Y51, with no explanations whatsoever for skipping Vivo Y52, the Chinese OEM otherwise did well in upgrading the Vivo Y5X series with Vivo Y53. There isn’t much changes in terms of internal hardware in Y53 over its predecessor. But Vivo has given the new smartphone an altogether different feel by ditching the shiny glass finish of the Y51 and replacing it with a matte finish.

Coming to other specifications, the Y53 screen size remains the same at 5-inch 540×960 pixels while the SoC and and battery capacity gets an upgrade. The Vivo Y51 carried Snapdragon 410 processor while a quad-core Snapdragon 425 Processor clocked at 1.4GHz rocks Vivo Y53. The battery capacity has also been increased to 2500mAh.

The RAM and internal storage has not been upgraded which remains the same at 2GB and 16GB respectively. The same is the case with Y53 camera. The rear shooter is of 8MP while there’s a 5MP for clicking selfies. The phone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

Available in two color options- Crown Gold and Space Gray, the dual SIM phone can be purchased via various online and offline stores. Vivo, during the release of the phone in Malaysia, had charted a release map mentioning the list of countries where Vivo Y53 is expected to be available. These are Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar and India other than, of course, Malaysia and Philippines.
