Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, and Moto G6 are no longer their respective company’s favorite phones, but it doesn’t mean they are forgotten.
The trio has already been succeeded by newer models, with the Galaxy S10 the latest to step into the shoes left behind by the S7 family while the Moto G7 has taken up the slot held by the Moto G6 back in 2018.
If you are a Verizon Wireless user of any of these three phones, you have a reason to smile. No, this isn’t a major OS upgrade, rather, the Big Red is rolling out the latest security updates available for the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge and Moto G6.
Where the S7 and S7 Edge updates are arriving as versions G930VVRS9CSC1 and G935VVRS9CSC1, respectively, the Moto G6 is getting a software update with version ODSS27.104-95-6. All updates bring the latest March 2109 security patches based on Android Oreo.
Unlike the Moto G6 that’s expected to get updated to Android 9 Pie pretty soon, the same isn’t true for the S7 pair, which will remain on Oreo forever. Of course, you can get an update to Pie through other means like flashing a custom ROM, but this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.
