We’re sorry to say this, but of all the variants of Galaxy Note 5 in the USA, Verizon Note 5 will probably be the last to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.
Over the history of Android updates, we’ve seen Verizon to be the slowest of all when it comes to release of major Android updates. We don’t know what is the carrier really scared of, but it has been like this till date, and may continue to do so.
We’d expect Verizon Note 5 Marshmallow update to release in December, but we won’t be surprised if it stretches up to January 2016.
For sure, Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will be coming with lots of new features. But it won’t consume development time like Lollipop did because Marshmallow release is completely based on material design introduced in Lollipop, so there will be no UI refresh and less time for development.
Samsung should have the Note 5 Marshmallow update ready by the end of October 2015, and it should be submitted to Verizon right after that, but Verizon may delay it 30-90 days for what they call “testing phase”.
Expected release: December 2015 or January 2015
