Mobile carrier Verizon has started rolling out a new firmware update to three Samsung devices- the Galaxy S5, Note Edge and Note 4. The update brings with it the January security update.
Arriving as build number QA1, the January security patch comes along with enhanced device performance and bug fixes.
If you are using a Verizon Galaxy S5, you will receive a software version G900VVRS2DQA1 which will bump up your device with the latest updates. For Note Edge users, the software version is N915VVRS2CQA1 while it is N910VVRS2CQA1 for Note 4 handsets.
The update being an OTA, will hit your devices anytime soon. Yet, if you do not want to wait for it, you can manually check by heading to Settings >> About device >> Download updates.
However, before updating the above mentioned devices, ensure that you your device has sufficient charge of at least 50% and download the update preferably over WiFi. Also, take a backup of any important data.
