Verizon has been killing it lately with timely software updates to Android devices. The carrier was first to release a patch for the BlueBorne vulnerability for Note 8, followed by a patch for 3-year old Note 4 and now the security patch is rolling out for Galaxy J3 (2016) as well.

Rolling out over-the-air, the Verizon Galaxy J3 (2016) is receiving an update with BlueBorne security patch. The update comes with software version MMB29M.J320VVRS2AQI1. Verizon hasn’t mentioned if it’s the September security patch or a standalone patch for BlueBorne vulnerability only.

Notably, Google mentioned that September security patch for Android devices includes patch for BlueBorne vulnerability. However, Verizon and Samsung rolled out BlueBorne security patch to Galaxy Note 8 last week on Security patch level Aug 01, 2017 only. So, it could be that the duo are more focused on rolling out a patch for BlueBorne vulnerability rather than September security patch.

The update to Verizon Galaxy J3 (2016) is rolling out as we speak, if you haven’t received the update notification yet. Head over to device Settings » Software update and force check for the update manually.
