Google will be officially announcing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update on Sept. 29th, and the update will then soon rollout (within a couple of days) to various Nexus devices. But what about the non-nexus devices? The ones like Droid Turbo which equally deserve the Android Marshmallow update.

Well, unfortunately for us, even though Droid Turbo is the latest flagship on Droid series, Verizon won’t speed up to give it Marshmallow update. The carrier delayed lollipop update on the device by 9 months even when it was freshly launched last year. But now it’s pretty old, so things will be even more ugly as far as Marshmallow update is concerned.

Verizon will still follow its lame / slow / frustrating update procedure which much slower compared to other carriers and OEMs.

Motorola Droid Turbo is the Verizon exclusive version of the device in USA, while it retails in other parts of the world as Motorola Moto Maxx, which isn’t as popular as Moto X devices.

So given the less popularity of the international variant of the device, we’re a bit concerned if Motorola would also delay the Marshmallow update to Moto Maxx, because if that happens, the Verizon Droid Turbo might get the update delayed even further since it will probably receive the update only after the international variant does.

Still, we’ve our hopes set for Verizon Droid Turbo Marshmallow update to release in mid-2016.

Expected release: Q3 2016.
