The VAIO brand was part of Sony once, but only last year, in an attempt to focus on its smartphone and TV business more, Sony sold the VAIO unit to the Japanese Industrial partners.

However, new rumors state that VAIO will enter the mobile market this year and is expected to launch their first-ever smartphone on March 12. The device has been spotted in an undisclosed benchmark test giving us a sneak peek at some of the purported specs.

It seems that the upcoming smartphone will be powered by a 1.2GHZ 64-bit Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 chipset. The device is likely to include 2GB of RAM on board, 16GB of internal storage, 5- inch HD screen with a display resolution of 720X1280 pixels, 13MP rear shooter with LED flash and a 5MP front camera. The first VAIO smartphone will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop and might come with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

According to the sources, VAIO will officially unveil the smartphone on March 12, until then all of this might remain as a rumor.
