What’s next in Android tablets arena? If rumors are to be believed the next big thing could be Samsung’s tablet, which could be unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) event in February 2012, and is said to boast cool 11.6 inch display (diagonally), superb 2GHz dual-core Exynos processor and massive resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels.

Moreover, this upcoming android tablet will feature Galaxy Beam (which is exclusive to Galaxy Nexus right now) and a wireless docking mode. Android 4.0 (rather 4.1, or possibly 4.2, who knows!) Ice Cream Sandwich can be taken for granted to come pre-installed on this buddy.

FYI, it’s said that the processor’s specs closely match that of iPad 3’s, rumored as Apple A6 processor. And given that Apple provides Airplay, an accessory which serves as wireless dock to play iPad’s game on HDTVs, what Samsung’s planned surely looks to take straight aim at Apple’s next version of tablet.

Specs of this rumored Samsung android tablet are enough to make anyone drool over it. We know what Exynos is capable of — it’s world’s best, simply put. And at 2GHz, we can’t stop imagining what freakish processor it would make. And that’s even though it’s not getting quad-core-ish, which is what Asus Prime will have, but frankly it doesn’t have to be. Even the dual-core Exynos at 1.2Ghz in Galaxy S2 beats the hell out of quad-core Tegra 3 processor you’ll find in Asus Prime.

Also worth highlighting is the bigger than ever 11.6-inch display. The maximum you can have right now is 10.1 inch display — available in many tablets: Xoom, Tab 10.1, Transformer, etc. and upcoming Transformer Prime. And that this 11.6-incher tablet would produce resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels in the ratio of 16:10 is awesome in itself — and btw, all that translates into pixel density of 260 PPI (pixels per inch), which is the best we’ve heard for tablets so far for tablets.

Sure, it’s much lower than iPhone’s 325, Galaxy Nexus’ 316 and HTC Rezound’s 342 PPI, but that was all about phones — no tablet right now has a resolution exceeding 1280 x 800, and 2560 x 1600 will be a big leap by any measure, which was much needed anyway since iPad 3 is expected to get retina-like display to tablets this time around.

Even though it’s got solid spec-sheet rumored, we hope Samsung’s found a way to get its gorgeous Super AMOLED display to tablets too, at such a high resolution. It’s about time, right?

So, what do you think about it? Has Samsung’s next tablet got enough firepower to take iPad 3? Is it in the right direction to take android tablets to next level? And, do you think Samsung will name it Galaxy Tab 11.6 (hopefully not)? What name you suggest, btw — Samsung Galaxy Tab HD, or Tab 116 (see what I did there)?
