Sony has finally killed off the Xperia Z series with the launch of new Xperia X series of flagship phones for 2016. However, this change doesn’t actually shifts much as far as device’s design and software is concerned.
Xperia X still largely remains the same as Z series, it’s just a different name for a refreshed marketing campaign.
Anyway, for those of you concerned about bootloader unlocking on Xperia X series of phones, you’d be happy to know that it’ll be done the same way as you did on the Z series.
And of course not all variants of Xperia X will support bootloader unlock, so you’d be better off checking it first from the service menu: Dial *#*#7378423#*#* and go to Service info » Configuration » Rooting status and check if Bootloader unlock status is Yes or No.
Once you’ve verified that Xperia X bootloader is unlockable, proceed with the step-by-step below to unlock bootloader on your Xperia X.
Note: Unlocking the bootloader will completely wipe/delete all files on your Xperia X. Make sure you backup your important files, pictures, videos, etc. stuff before you unlock bootloader on Xperia X.
