Going by what the world has seen too many times with international version of Galaxy S and Galaxy S2 devices as regards new OS firmware leaks, compared to their US variants, one would be right to assume the international Galaxy Note would get a decent Ice Cream Sandwich firmware leak way earlier than its AT&T counterpart. But, surprisingly, an Android 4.0 firmware dubbed as UCLC5 got leaked today for the AT&T Galaxy Note, SGH-i717, while there is none good ICS leak for global Note.

The leaked ICS firmware for AT&T Galaxy Note, UCLC5, is based on Android 4.0.3, which was the latest version of android OS until Android 4.0.4 broke out some days before. Anyway, here’s how you can install UCLC5 on your AT&T Galaxy Note. Do not try this on international Galaxy Note, N7000.

Compatibility

This firmware and the guide below is compatible only and only with AT&T Galaxy Note, SGH-i717. It’s not compatible with any other device, including international version N7000. Check your device’s model number in Settings » About phone.

Pre-Installation Requirements/Tips

  1. This procedure will wipe all your apps, data and settings (but it will NOT touch your SD cards, so don’t worry about those). Backup your Apps and important data — bookmarks, contacts, SMS, APNs (internet settings), etc. This Android backup guide would help you.
  2. If you have Samsung’s PC software Kies installed, un-install it first because it may interrupt the flashing process.
  3. Drivers! — it’s important you’ve the proper drivers installed. Download links below.

Instructions (only for very experienced users):

DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

To install the UCLC5 on your Galaxy Note, you gotta download the firmware (a .exe file) from here and then boot your Galaxy Note into download mode. For this, first power off the phone, and then press and hold Volume Down and Power buttons together until you see a screen. Press Volume Up to continue to download mode. Now, run the firmware’s .exe file and wait for Odin window to show up. It could take time for Odin window to appear after you’ve run the .exe file, so have patience. If you don’t get an Odin window, then abandon this process. Don’t do anything else. And once you get Odin window, connect your Note to PC, it should show in Odin as added! Press Start to begin updating the Galaxy Note with ICLC4 Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware.
