Follow these steps to complete The Man in the Well quest:
Step 1
Travel to the well; you will have to wait until Zi hour.
Step 2
Change the in-game time to Zi hour.
Step 3
Go near the well and call out to the man inside. After the conversation ends, the man will send you to get him some braised pork belly slices.
Step 4
Reach Heaven's Pier and get some braised pork belly slices from Yuan Xianxian, the stall owner.
Step 5
Return to the well and set the time again to Zi hour, then throw the pork belly down the well.
Step 6
Go to Blissful Retreat and retrieve an old piece of clothing that you no longer wear.
Step 7
Return to the well and set the time again to Zi hour, then throw the old clothes down the well.
Step 8
Go towards the Street Urchin standing behind you and initiate a conversation.
Step 9
After the conversation ends, his name turns red. Fight with him and teach him a lesson.
Step 10
Go back to the well in Zi hour and continue the conversation with Li Wa.

Use Wind Sense and check for something unusual. Go to the Street Urchin and have a conversation.
Step 12
Set the time to the next day at Zi hour.

Go to Blissful Retreat and retrieve the wine.

A beggar boy will snatch the wine, drink it and fall asleep. Stay near the boy and speak to him once he wakes up.

Go near the well in Blissful Retreat and examine the corpse, his clothes, and his left hand.

After examining the corpse, investigate the surroundings. After the investigation the quest ends.
