Location for the Legend of Opusnupuri

Phase I: Triggering the Legend of Opusnupuri

Step 1: Travel to Husko Kotan

Go to the village of Husko Kotan in the Nayoro Wilds. There you’ll find a storyteller performing a Yukar, a traditional Ainu myth.

Step 2: Listen to the storyteller

Approach the storyteller to trigger the cutscene. The myth of Okikurmi’s arrow will set the tale in motion, marking Niptay Mountain on your map.

Step 3: Begin your ascent

Head toward the newly marked area at the base of Niptay Mountain to start your climb.

Phase II: Niptay Mountain and Okikurmi’s arrow

Step 4: Climb using your grappling hook

Follow the mountain path. Grappling points will appear frequently — use them to climb and swing over gaps. Keep an eye out for natural ledges and narrow passages.

Step 5: Rest with the Ainu traveler

Midway up, you’ll meet an Ainu traveler near a campfire. Build a fire and eat when prompted. This interaction progresses the quest and opens the next area.

Step 6: Investigate the camp

Continue until you find a small camp. Interact with the campfire to trigger the first bear encounter.

Step 7: Follow the trail of gunfire

After surviving, move toward the sound of gunfire. You’ll find an injured man — speak to him to gain insight on the bad kamuy’s attacks.

Step 8: Escape the bear

The bear will return for a surprise attack. Quickly grapple upward to escape. Move through wooden beams and narrow passages to reach a new cave.

Step 9: Traverse through the cave

Climb through the dark cave using natural wall holds. At the end, you’ll emerge near another Ainu NPC waiting outside.

Step 10: Reach the ancient tree

Follow the path downhill and across trenches while avoiding or sneaking past the bear. Use tall grass to hide. Eventually, you’ll reach a giant tree. Examine it to find Okikurmi’s Arrow.

Phase III: Defeat the bad kamuy (bear spirit)

Step 11: Prepare for the final battle

The bear will reappear immediately after you obtain the arrow. Make sure your health is full before engaging.

Step 12: Use Okikurmi’s Arrow

Equip the bow and use the mythic arrow to deal massive damage. Aim carefully for the head to break the bear’s spirit barrier.

Step 13: Deliver the final blow

After the bear weakens, finish it with your katana or another arrow shot. Once it falls, a final cutscene will trigger, completing the mythic tale.
