News, news and more news! As the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 to be held in late February draws closer and closer, rumors of new devices that will be announced at the MWC are coming out in full force. With all the powerful devices that are supposed to be released this year, even the supposed ‘end of the world‘ might postpone itself after looking at them.
In the latest development, specs of the next Transformer tablet that Asus is said to be announcing at the MWC have been leaked, which hint of a cheaper quad-core Tegra 3 powered Transformer tablet in the making.
The new Transformer with model number TF300T will be sporting almost all the same specs as the mighty Transformer Prime, with a couple of changes.
Instead of the 16 and 32 GB flavors the current Transformer Prime is available in, the TF300T will only have a 16 GB version, and that’s the first thing that cut the costs. The other thing being a reduction in battery capacity as suggested by fact that the battery life of TF300T has been quoted at 8.5 hours, as opposed to the 9.5 hours of the existing Transformer Prime TF300, which leads us to believe that battery will witness a downgrade as well.
Other specs will be the same as the Transformer Prime TF300, which include an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 megapixel camera, and a 10.1″ IPS LCD with a resolution of 1280×800. On the software side, the TF300 will be releasing with Android 4.0 out of the box.
This could mean that the new Transformer tablet will be a cheaper version of the Transformer Prime which will make quite a lot of people happy because frankly, even after the changes mentioned above, it’ll still be one hell of a powerful Android tablet. All we can do now is wait for TF300 to release soon so we can get our hands on one. Fingers crossed!
