T-Mobile Nexus 6P has a network drop issue on Android 7.1.1 builds

Several users of the T-Mobile Nexus 6P have been complaining of a network related bug after updating to Android 7.1.1 Nougat. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard reports of bugs in the latest update. After updating to Android 7.1.1, users have reported Bluetooth connectivity and Call quality issues as well.

According to the users, their Nexus 6P will suddenly loose network in an area with full signal strength and reconnect immediately. However, upon reconnection, sometimes the data would stop working. This seems to happen a couple of times a day and specially when the user is moving around or traveling.

The problem is only present in the latest Android 7.1.1 update, but a factory reset, fresh install and reboots don’t seem to solve the issue. One user mentioned that flashing a different radio has solved the problem. It definitely seems to be a software issue.

The development team has started working on a fix and it will probably be included in a future Verizon software update. Since this is happening to only the Verizon users, the carrier will have to release an update, instead of Google. Hopefully, it will be fixed soon with a software update.
