T-Mobile has begun testing Android 9 Pie for the Galaxy S8 and S8+. This process could take anywhere between weeks and months, so we can’t give you any definite timeline of the software’s availability.
Still, we are adamant that the stable release should be out by the end of this month or in April 2019 after several weeks of testing the firmware to ensure that it works fine on the Magenta carrier.
Those in Europe using model numbers SM-G950F and SM-G955F of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ have already received the Pie update. But it’s nothing unusual to see the U.S. market lagging behind thanks to the carrier effect.
We also expect T-Mobile to push the Pie update to the Galaxy S8 Active, but unlike the S8 and S8+, the carrier hasn’t given any indication that work on the update is underway.
