One of the best devices of its time, the Galaxy S7 naturally sees updates less often than ever now. But that doesn’t mean it’s been forgotten by Samsung and mobile networks.
We are happy to report that a new update is seeding out to the T-Mobile Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge users right now. The new OTA comes as build CSG1 and brings the July 2019 security patch for the devices.
Thus, it’s build number G930TUVSACSG1 for the Galaxy S7, and G935TUVSACSG1 for the Galaxy S7 Edge. If you own either of the S7 sets at T-Mobile, we recommend you grab the update now. There won’t be too many updates, even security updates, released for the S7 units now, anyway.
Speaking of updates, major update like Android Q is certainly out of question for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, whether at T-Mobile or any other mobile network in the US, or the global unit. The S7 units didn’t get Pie update either, so Q update from Samsung is already out of question.
But there is still a chance the S7 sets get to taste the goodness of Android Q. That could happen unofficially, via a custom ROM like GSI ROM that is based on Android Q. Such a ROM can exist once the Android Q is released by Google, and some developer(s) burn their mid-night oil in bringing support for Q-based GSI ROM to the Galaxy S7 sets.
