Subliminal is a psychological horror game inspired by the urban legend of The Backrooms. It features bleeding-edge lighting and rendering, handcrafted open-ended levels, and light and perspective-based puzzles set in eerie, nostalgic environments.
The Waterworks memory is an early sequence in the game where, right after the intro, you’re transported through a photo frame to relive that memory.
Waterworks Memory: Step-by-step guide
After entering the memory, move through the water showers toward the stairs and press the red button located beside the eerie tree with eyes.
After pressing the button, head up the stairs. Halfway through, you’ll be introduced to the Memory Meter—an in-game tool that tracks your progress.
Continue climbing up the stairs until you reach the entrance of the ride. You'll have to stand on the scale to weigh yourself before proceeding.
Press the green button to open the gate, then get on the yellow raft to start the ride.
When the ride ends, step off the raft—you’ll notice two ticks appear on your Memory Meter.
Head back down the stairs, then go through the water showers in the center and take the other staircase leading to the next ride.
Press the red button and go up the stairs to weigh yourself again.
Go through the gates and press the green button to start the final ride—this marks the end of the demo.
