Sprint Galaxy Tab 4 which was scheduled to receive Lollipop update on Sept. 26th seems to be getting it a bit early, at-least to one lucky user (check video) who just received the 5.1.1 OTA update on his Tab 4 T237P.

The Sprint Tab 4 5.1.1 OTA is coming with firmware version T237PVPU1BOH7 and is 901.63MB in size. If you haven’t received the update notification yet, you may want to manually check for it via Settings » About device » Software updates section.

Unfortunately, the user who received the update did not capture the OTA update’s zip for everyone’s use. But it’s good to know that Sprint has started the 5.1.1 rollout for the tablet and it should soon release for all users.

Oh and if you’re concerned about root access on Sprint Tab 4 after installing 5.1.1 Lollipop. Well, you’ll get root on it, but it’ll be through a custom kernel with root baked-in only. You won’t be able to root the 5.1.1 firmware using CF-Auto-Root or by flashing SuperSU zip from TWRP.

Also, after installing the 5.1.1 update (T237PVPU1BOH7) you won’t be able to downgrade back to KitKat (T237PVPU1ANL1), if need be. This is because 5.1.1 Lollipop update will upgrade the bootloader on your Tab 4 which isn’t downgrade-able.
