Sprint is the second best carrier in the US (after T-Mobile) when it comes to releasing Android software updates. So if you happen to own a Sprint Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge, be assured that you’ll be getting the Android Nougat 7.0 update in time.
Sprint’s S7 and S7 Edge won’t be taking ridiculously long for the Android Nougat update. Although, there’s no denying that the yellow carrier would still take a while to push Android 7.0 to its users, but that is how things roll in the US.
Unlike other markets, Android devices in the USA have to go through carrier approval before getting an update. So if Samsung has the Android Nougat update ready for Sprint Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge in the month of December 2016, it’ll first submit it to Sprint’s software team who will test the update for 30-60 days and then direct Samsung to release the update for the public.
So it’s not Samsung to blame for delayed Android updates, at-least not in the US. Carriers play a very big role in the US, and that’s what stopping you from getting that latest Android update running on your device.
Sprint S7 and S7 Edge Android Nougat update release date
Anyway, coming to the discussion of Android Nougat update release date for Sprint Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Let’s first speculate when Samsung will release the update for the international variants of the said devices.
In the recent years, almost all premium Android manufacturers have sped up their software update release schedules, thanks to continued efforts by Google to help accelerate the procedure. Samsung too have accelerated their software update timelines, starting with Android 5.0 Lollipop update in year 2014, when the Korean tech giant released the update to its then flagship device Galaxy S5 within a couple of months official release by Google.
Also, counting in the fact that Android Nougat developer preview releases has been out for a while now, it shouldn’t take Samsung (and other Android device makers) much time to release Android Nougat update.
Google is set to release Android Nougat in the fall 2016, which will be either September or October. If we consider Samsung to release the update after a month or two of Google’s official announcement, that’ll calculate to December 2016.
So if Samsung is to release Android Nougat update to Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge by the end of 2016, the Sprint variants of the devices should get it by February 2017.
Expected Sprint Galaxy S7 (G930P) and S7 Edge (G935P) Nougat update release date: February 2017.
We’ll be sure to update this page once we’ve official confirmation from either Samsung or Sprint on the release details of Android Nougat 7.0 update for Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. Stay tuned..
