This year’s upcoming MWC event is getting interesting day-by-day. In fact, it might turn out to be the the biggest tech show ever. We already have brands like Samsung, Motorola, ZTE, LG lining up product releases at the event. Making the show more attractive is the news about Sony releasing not one but five new smartphones during the event. The cherry on the icing is the powerful Snapdragon 835 SoC on board the Sony phones.
Yes, you read it right. There is news pouring in that Sony will unveil a new flagship phone codenamed Yoshino which will carry 4K display and Snapdragon 835 system chip on board. The other four phones- BlancBright, Keyaki (zelkova), Hinoki (cypress), Mineo – look equally impressive, if the leaks are to be believed.
Sony BlancBright and Sony Yoshino are high-end phones while Sony Keyaki and Sony Mineo fall in the mid-range category followed by Sony Hinoki.
Sony Yoshino is rumoured to sport a 5.5-inch 4K display, Snapdragon 835, 4GB or 6GB RAM and new Sony IMX400 image sensor while Sony BlancBright should feature a 5.5-inch QHD screen, Snapdragon 835 or the Snapdragon 653, 4GB of RAM and the Sony IMX400 image sensor as well.
The mid-range category phone Sony Keyaki will come with 5.2-inch FHD display, MediaTek Helio P20, 4GB RAM coupled with 64GB internal storage and 23MP/16MP camera combo. With lesser specs comes the Sony Hinoki. It is said to have 5-inch HD display, MediaTek Helio P20 system chip, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage as well as 16MP/8MP camera combo.
The last in the line, Sony Mineo is priced at $350. For its specs, we need to wait a little as details are not available right now.
If Sony does launch these five phones in the MWC event, it will definitely turn out to be the show stealer. However, Sony has not released any official confirmation on these devices. Therefore, it would be wise to take the news with a pinch of salt!
