Sony vowed to be the first to avail the Nougat update to its devices ahead of other non-Google companies. From the look of things, the OEM is indeed leading the way when it comes to the number of Xperia devices that have already been updated to the new OS.
Beginning today, Android 7.0 Nougat update is rolling out for the Xperia Z3+ users with software build number 32.3.A.0.372, same as what rolled out to the standard Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium yesterday. The new update is not just rolling out to those using the Xperia Z3+, but also those with the Dual variant of the same phone.
The update delivers Multi-Window support and improved battery life thanks to Android’s more efficient Doze system. Sony has also made changes to its proprietary battery saving feature STAMINA Mode, where you can now choose to prioritize performance or standby times.
In addition, Sony has altered its home screen with Google Now integration and has added a timer to the selfie camera.
So there should be nothing different in the update when compared to what Sony Xperia Z5 received earlier. However, the Xperia Z3+ Nougat update is slightly heavier than what the Z5 received, where it weighs close to 1.4GB as compared to the roughly 1.3GB update pushed to the Z5.
